Start your first practice
Tap Create a list, give it a name, and type English words, one per line. Save your list and tap Let’s practice. Listen, type the spelling, and tap Check. Continue when you are ready. Words that need another try return during review.
Can’t hear a word?
Check your volume and whether audio is playing through headphones or another device. SpellBell needs an English system voice. Open iPhone Settings → Accessibility → Read & Speak (or Spoken Content) → Voices → English to download a voice. Return to SpellBell and replay the word.
Pick up where you left off
Checked answers are saved automatically. Use Continue practice to resume, even after closing the app. Each list keeps its latest practice session. Starting again replaces the previous session for that list.
Edit or delete a list
Open a list’s options menu to edit its name and words, or choose Delete list to remove it and its saved practice progress. Deleting the app removes local data; device backups are managed separately through Apple’s backup settings.
Switch between English and Hebrew
The interface follows your iPhone’s app or device language. Choose English or Hebrew in your language settings. Other languages use the English interface. Practice words, spelling entry, and speech always stay in English.
What do I need?
An iPhone running iOS 17 or later and an English system voice. Once a voice is available, spelling practice works offline. No account, subscription, or purchase is needed.
